MyHowl: Dec 6 - 12

Friday
Today was goodbye day. Dramatic indeed, but it is okay. A little bit more normalcy (I hope); although none of this is due to my choosing. Still, I said farewell. Not as had dreamed it would be, but I am off and starting new - again. Florida all of the great and all of the not so great, is over. It is time to bring my recovery to its highest heights.
Wednesday
23 days left in December/2015 as of right now I have logged 2,816.65 running miles for the year. Although I didn't start the year with this new goal of 3000+ for 2015, if I average 7.97 miles per day (my yearly average is well over 8), I will reach 3000 logged running miles (or 8.2 miles per day or a solid 57 mile per week average - including rest days).

Monday
The good news is that I am finally sure that I cannot win back the love of Mimi. I feel okay about it for the first time too. I am not pleased about how it happened and may never know why; and it doesn't seem to make as much of a difference anymore. I am committed to not embarrassing myself anymore and moving on. As for the girl, the distance may be for always as far as I can tell and I am not much of a swimmer; floating away. Sure I am typing these words as a tool of coping. But the truth is, I feel fine and things are looking good moving ahead. I have most of the week left in Deerfield Beach and my long lost sister, Lisa is here and that is enough. When I get back to Denver, Dick Dime 2.0 will be unleashed and it is going to be most excellent.

Sunday
First day back to the swamp. So different now but I got to see my beautiful sister, Lisa. I am glad that despite my situation, I made the trip. Granted it is not the glorious relationship save that I dreamed of, but I know what I have to do now - for me.

Training this week: Run 57.3 mi -  Bike 0 (0 rest days)

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Fri Run 10.12 mi - 1:24:30 - 8:20 pace - 142 avg hr - 21' elevation gain
Looks like this will be my last run in Florida. I fly home early  tomorrow.

Thurs Run 5.6 mi - 50:28 - 9:00 pace - 132 avg hr - 18' elevation gain
Running in South Florida is not pleasant. It is hard to believe how many miles that I logged while I lived here for 5 years. It is so much more difficult than in the mountains.

Wed Run/walk 8.1 mi 1:30:11 - 11:08 pace - 136 avg hr - 17' elevation gain
The South Florida swamp won this battle. I had to walk most of the second 4 miles.
Tues Run 11.13 mi - 1:30:49 - 8:09 pace - 144 avg hr - 27' elevation gain
A Good South Florida run. I totally realize why I had to get out of this state. I will take the Colorado mountain air over this, any time

Mon Run 10.25 mi - 1:24:49 - 8:16 pace - 138 avg hr - 18' elevation gain
I started in Deerfield Beach and ran north on A1A into a headwind to Boca Raton and back. Humid too.

Sun Run 12.1 mi - 1:37:447 - 8:04 pace - 138 avg hr - 0' elevation gain
Back in the florida swamp. It was actually a nice day today.

MyHowl: Nov 29 - Dec 5

Sunday
Well I got a run in today. It feels good to be back on track. Actually, the weather was pleasant and my 12 run was decent. It felt more pleasant than my memory has allowed. Looks like I have to occupy my time in Deerfield Beach for my remaining days in Florida (through Saturday). I guess this week is best summarized with a Joy Division song lyric:

ISOLATION
In fear every day, every evening,
He calls her aloud from above,
Carefully watched for a reason,
Painstaking devotion and love,
Surrendered to self preservation,
From others who care for themselves.
A blindness that touches perfection,
But hurts just like anything else.-
Isolation, isolation, isolation.-
Mother I tried please believe me,
I'm doing the best that I can.
I'm ashamed of the things I've been put through,
I'm ashamed of the person I am.
-
Isolation, isolation, isolation.
-
But if you could just see the beauty,
These things I could never describe,
These pleasures a wayward distraction,
This is my one lucky prize.-
Isolation, isolation, isolation, isolation, isolation.

Saturday
Flying to South Florida today - I couldn't enter the West Palm Marathon and since I didn't even get my rental car until about 1 am - racing would have been a bad idea anyway. I ended up going to IHOP and drinking coffee and then tried to sleep a bit in the car.
Thursday
I do not know if this qualifies or not, but I am happy to report that I am running strong despite my 'running injury' - a broken heart.
Monday
My running update for November. Despite 6 rest days, I still managed 291.1 total running miles; or an average of 12.13 miles every time I laced up my sneakers. Already in 2015, I have logged my most miles for one year, 2,748.59. If I maintain a rigorous pace in December, I will eclipse a new milestone, 3000 miles! With 31 days left in 2015, I am just 251 miles short of this touchstone.

Sunday
Off and running - this is going to be a great week for me.
